Wireless Smart Home Control Without WiFi, for Home Owners
For Homes
Real Wireless Control
Control the front lights from your car, garage doors, fans, irrigation and more. This system is powerful, private and doesn't rely on WiFi or the Internet.
What you can control
Lights are just the beginning.
If it switches on and off, you can typically control it.
For new and existing homes.
Who cares?
Why you should care.
The decisions you make relating to your Home's control system will impact you more than you may realise right now. Here are a few scenarios for you to consider:
-
1. If you don't care, and do nothing
There's no issue with this decision, it just means decisions will be made for you. Any electrical work you get done will be hardwired. Once it's in, any changes will need an electrician and you won't be able to do the simplest modern things.
-
2. If you choose hard-wired
Again, there's no issue with this decision, however, you'll be installing 60-year-old technology. A switch controls one light or circuit - that's about it. Want to relocate or get a new switch - you'll need an electrician and wall cutting will begin. Want switches to do clever things? Not happening. Hard-wiring is old tech.
-
3. If you choose a WiFi
WiFi systems are typically internet based and not private (there are exceptions). They're OK until the internet drops, privacy is important or updates break the system (yes this occurs - regularly). If you think wireless globes are the solution you should read our blog post about them.
Why we built this
Why we built You.InControl.
Our mobile phones went wireless over 30 years ago! Yet, our houses still have 60-year-old switch-based, inflexible, wired control. There had to be a better way!
-
1. Wireless eliminates complexity
No control wires means no running cables down walls and around the ceiling, no cutting holes and no trenching. Switches can be added, moved and functions changed without an electrician. No wires is simplicity and pure freedom.
-
2. Long-range is game changing
With ranges of up to and over 1 km, you can control the house lights from your car, switch pumps and irrigation in your backyard and beyond. Control the shed without going out there.
-
3. Any switch controls anything
With a You.InControl System you create the rules. If you want your bedroom light switch to also light up the whole outside of your house if you hear something outside, you can. Want a Goodnight button beside your bed that locks all the doors, closes the garage door and turns all the lights off, that's easy.
What you can do
The Options are Awesome.
Here are a few things You.InControl enables around your home.
- →
Every switch is a panic button
Hear a bump in the night? Turn all the outside lights on. Trigger an alarm. If there's a fire, turn all the inside lights. The safety of you and your loved ones should not be a luxury.
- →
The Goodnight button
One press. Everything turns off, garage closes and doors lock. No walking through the house double-checking. No second-guessing. Convenience. Peace of mind.
- →
Control before you step inside
Control the front lights from your car. Open the garage or front door without leaving the car. Come home to a house that looks out for you and your family.
- →
Never wonder about the garage again
Set it to close automatically. Trigger it from your Remote on the sun visor. Stop driving back just to check.
- →
Switches go anywhere
Wireless switches go virtually anywhere - beside the bed, on your desk, in your studio, in the shed. Your lights and switches are no longer hobbled by wires. Switch batteries last 5+ years between charges. Move them whenever you want.
- →
Start small. Grow at your pace.
Start with your front lights and garage door. Add irrigation, the shed, the pool, the pantry. The system is ready to grow whenever you are.
- →
Works without WiFi or the internet
Your home will not miss a beat, even when the rest of the world stops. Bushfires, extreme weather, or outages - they don't affect You.InControl systems.

Goodnight button sequence • Front lights from the car • Panic lighting demo
"It all started from a reasonable request. When I was a builder, one of my clients asked if she could turn all the outside house lights on from any switch in the house. At the time, this would have cost $50,000. We can now do it for $5,000."
How it works
Remote. Controller. Go.
- 1. Start with a Controller - it's the main interface and controls everything in the background.
- 2. Add a Relay-8 (or Electrical Hub) to control lights, fans, and electrical equipment.
- 3. Add a Remote (or Wireless Switch) to trigger Events or Actions.
- 4. Press a button and the system acts - turning things on and off - wirelessly and securely.
- This is a simplified overview to demonstrate basic functionality. Different equipment allows you to do different things.
Case study
The shed, garden and driveway.
A Canberra homeowner wanted to turn the light on and off in the shed, from inside the house.
The shed was across the driveway. The traditional solution meant trenching through concrete and a rose garden, laying conduit, and patching everything up. Thousands of dollars to install including repairing the damage.
You.InControl got the job done in under two hours. A wireless Relay switched the shed lights on and off. A wireless switch near the front door controlled the light. A Remote also went in the car. Job done.
"Try doing that with wires."
Start simple. Grow at your pace.
Four parts. One system. Yours to grow.
Get a Controller
It's the brain. Runs your whole network.
Get an Electrical Hub
Controls lights, fans and other 240V equipment around the home. Installed by a licenced electrician.
Get Switches and Remotes
Put them wherever you want control - beside the bed, in the car, on a wall, in the shed. Zero wiring. Long range.
Expand when you're ready
Add irrigation, sensors, garage doors, outdoor lights, pool pumps, gates - as you need them. No pressure.
What your electrician does
All 240V work must be completed by a licenced electrician - that's Australian law.
What you can do
You can pair new Switches, Remotes and other parts of the system yourself. They're wireless and easy to use. You can make changes whenever you want.
Australian-designed and built in Canberra. Built for absolute security and privacy.
How it differs
Not the smart-home system you've seen before.
Most smart-home systems lean on WiFi, an app, an account and overseas cloud servers. We don't.
| Feature | Typical smart-home WiFi system | You.InControl |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | App, account, WiFi pairing per device | Pair to your Controller in seconds |
| Works without WiFi | No | Yes |
| Works during an internet outage | Usually no | Yes |
| Range across your property | ~20m | Over 1km |
| Needs an app to control | Yes | No |
| Subscription or cloud account | Often | Never |
| Where your data goes | Overseas servers | Stays on your property |
| Move a switch later | Cut walls, rewire | Pick it up, stick it elsewhere |
FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
Can I install You.InControl myself?
Yes, you can install a lot of the system yourself - Remotes, Switches and many of the other devices - they're low voltage and safe. However, fixed wiring and electrical work must be undertaken by a qualified electrician. It's Australian law.
What is the wireless range?
Typical range is up to and over 1km. Advanced users can achieve longer distances - we have achieved 7.5km. Actual range depends on your application, location and system settings.
Do I need WiFi?
No. You.InControl uses long-range secure LoRa transmissions. It does not require WiFi, the internet or any cloud service.
What if my internet goes out?
The system keeps working. It doesn't need the internet.
Is there a monthly cost?
No. You buy the system once. No subscriptions. No cloud fees. No apps.
Can I move Switches after installation?
Yes. They're wireless and battery-powered. Move them wherever and whenever you want - on a wall, on the desk, beside the bed, in the car. The system is incredibly flexible.
How long do the batteries last?
A Switch lasts 5+ years between charges. A Remote lasts 3 years. When required, simply recharge via USB.
Is it secure?
Yes, very. Every transmission is end-to-end encrypted. No data leaves your property. No cloud. No servers. No third parties looking at what you're up to. About as secure as it gets - especially important in the new world of AI and what's coming.
Can I add more devices later?
Absolutely. The system is modular. Add more devices and equipment whenever you want. Pair them to your Controller in seconds and make changes anytime.
Is this for new homes or existing homes?
Both. You.InControl can be installed in new or existing homes - urban, rural and totally off-grid. The Switches are wireless, so you don't need to damage walls running new wires.
Will wireless switches be the new norm?
We think so. Our Wireless Switches can control anything in your house, last 5+ years between charges, have a range of about 800m, and you can put them and move them anywhere. Why use inflexible, expensive and hazardous fixed wiring? That was yesterday's technology.
How does it compare to other systems?
You.InControl was unapologetically designed for the user. Affordable, wireless and powerful. Extremely secure and private. Find that in another system. For more, see our comparisons guide.
Ready to get started?
Most homeowners start with a Controller, an Electrical Hub for the front and entry lights, and a few Switches and Remotes. With that, the front and entry lights can be controlled from the car or anywhere in the house.
Then when they see what the system is capable of, they start doing more.
You.InControl - Affordable. Wireless. In Control.
